Moving with equal grace through American and Mexican folk and country idioms, Tish Hinojosa makes the boundaries between cultures, languages, and musical genres disappear. With a lovely voice that is both sweet and powerful, her genius lies in her ability to fuse popular culture and ethnic tradition into the universals of truth, wonder, and faith. Her latest album, The Best of Tish Hinojosa Live (Rounder), features live cuts of classic Tish originals like "Bandera del Sol/Flag of the Sun" and "Roses Around My Feet," all of them richly detailed, delicious slices of life. She has also recently published Cada Nino, Every Child: A Bilingual Songbook for Kids (Cinco Puntos Press), a companion songbook to her award-winning 1996 children's album by the same name. A native of San Antonio who now resides in Austin, Tish remains committed to her own style and cultural roots.
