Exquisite vocalists and masterful musicians, Carol Elizabeth Jones and Laurel Bliss present music from their recent album Girl From Jericho (Copper Creek), a sparkling mixture of gems from the likes of the Carter Family and legendary North Carolina native Ola Belle Reed, plus lovely Carol Elizabeth originals. Virginia-based Carol Elizabeth's traditional mountain-style delivery and unique songs that blend contemporary themes with Appalachian instrumental styles gained acclaim in her work with former partner James Leva, as did her "Heart of a Singer" project with Hazel Dickens and Ginny Hawker. Bellingham-based dobro whiz and singer, Laurel is perhaps best known for her Carter Family recordings with Cliff Perry in the 90s, notably the County Sales' Best Old-Time Recording of 1994, Old Pal. Tonight this duo's masterful instrumental interplay and lovely harmony singing is further enhanced by guest performer Tom Rozum, the Grammy-nominated mandolinist/singer best known in these parts for his collaborations with Laurie Lewis. A versatile musician who's also a great singer, Tom's sensitive playing and wry onstage banter add a distinctive flair to any show of which he is a part.
