The Abraham Lincoln Brigade refers to the more than 3000 volunteers from the United States who fought for Spanish Republican forces against fascists starting in 1936. The brigade's bravery in battle and high casualty rate made them heroic figures to all people opposing the rise of fascism. The Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA), which sponsors this event, is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting public awareness, research, and discussion about the Spanish Civil War and the American volunteers who risked their lives to fight fascism in Spain.
