Dan Hicks & his Hot Licks"So few truly original figures exist in pop music that Dan Hicks should be a national treasure." - San Francisco Chronicle

The long-time king of hipster-chic Dan Hicks takes the stage to present his sizzling, utterly unique sound, simply sublime and sublimely ridiculous lyrics and a brand new album, Tangled Tales. For three decades Dan and the Hot Licks have blazed a trail across the Americana horizon, working with and influencing legendary artists including Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Bette Midler, Brain Setzer, Willie Nelson, and Jimmy Buffett, among others.

Truly an American original. Dan has deftly blended elements of swing, jazz, folk and country music to create the appealing sound he sometimes calls "Folk Jazz." His counter-culture appeal, which has twice landed him on the cover of Rolling Stone, has always been rooted in his songwriting. His lyrics have been touted as some of the sharpest-tongued, driest-witted, and subtly hilarious bits of irreverence ever committed to rhyme, provoking Tom Waits to say, "Dan Hicks is fly, sly, wily and dry!" Dan's irresistible sense of rhythm, lyrical styling, laid-back vocalizing, and infamous on-stage wit will make most who listen fans for life. And he's a snappy dresser, too.

Gonzalo BergaraStarting the night's musical roller coaster is the smoking Gonzalo Bergara Quartet who play a modern variant of 1930s Django Reinhardt-inspired Gypsy Jazz. Composer and lead guitarist Gonzalo mixes cascades of arpeggios with the sounds of Paris and his native Argentina ,supported by ace clarinetist Rob Hardt and a honed rhythm section of Jeffrey Radaich (rhythm guitar) and Brian Netlzey (upright bass).
