In two shows that highlight the expansive potential of traditional music, marvelous mandolin innovator David Grisman and his quintet fill our listening room with virtuoso musicianship and plentiful good vibes.

Famed for forging his own musical path in his own inimitable way, David is known far and wide for his "dawg" music, a jubilant, highly intricate, harmonically advanced hybrid of so many different stylistic influences (swing, bluegrass, Latin, jazz, gypsy) that he had to invent the name for it. In addition to his own renowned groups like DGQ, Old and In the Way, and the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, David has recorded with everyone from Jerry Garcia to Stephan Grapelli, and many more. His quintet has spent the past several decades winning numerous awards and headlining at major jazz, folk, and bluegrass festivals around the world, while producing distinguished alumni like Tony Rice, Frank Vignola, Mike Marshall, and Darol Anger.

In the DGQ's ineup, flutist Matt Eakle, guitarist Grant Gordy, bassist Jim Kerwin, drummer/percussionist George Marsh, and fiddle phenomenon Alex Hargreaves join David in bounding nimbly between just about any genre you could care to name, from bluegrass to Latin to classical and beyond.
