Founding member Jane Vidrine once described them as "Women's voices in harmony, hitting the chords that haven't been heard in Cajun music before." One of the few all-woman Cajun bands in existence, the Magnolia Sisters play the standard elegant waltzes and snappy two-steps with energy, verve, and a playful flair. Yet their sound adds a further dimension to the mostly male-dominated genre of Cajun music, featuring tight, soulful harmonies and a distinctly older Cajun swing style.

Singer-songwriter Robbie Fulks has spent the past two decades moving between alternative country, classic honky-tonky, and offbeat roots rock, but he has always maintained his sharp lyrical pen and his eye for dark humor. As encompassed by his recent, ambitious 50-Vc. Doberman project, a collection of 50 songs written over the course of one year, Robbie's repertoire is informed by whip-smart wordplay and an improvisatory, boundary-pushing musical sensibility.
