All
performers are welcome to participate in this event that has produced
some of our brightest performers, including: Shawn Colvin, Dana Carvey,
Alvin Youngblood Hart, and Patrick Landeza.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS!
One unique aspect of our Open Mic is that, unlike those held in noisy
bars where people show up in spite of the fact that there's live music,
you will be playing to a supportive group of friends and performers who
are actually listening!!!

The Charlie Hunter Trio will surely give the Freight's new green roof a run for its money tonight, as they do their level best to blow it straight off with their hard-driving grooves. Featuring numbers off Charlie's new CD, Gentlemen, I Neglected To Inform You You Will Not Be Getting Paid, the trio showcases the guitarist's gritty rock-jazz-funk style, with Eric Kalb on drums and trumpeter Ron Miles.

Over the past 40 years, Jimmy Webb's accomplishments as a composer, arranger, songwriter, and performer have made him a truly iconic figure in the music world. The only artist ever to receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration, Jimmy's name can be found on a staggering number of songwriter halls of fame, lifetime achievement awards, and "best singles of all time" lists. His songs, however speak for themselves.
