“Just about everyone I meet tells me that the cello is their favorite instrument,” says Mark Summer, internationally-renown jazz cellist and composer. Considering the implication of that statement and his own ability to roam in almost any musical soundscape, Summer and jazz pianist Ken Cook present Celloland.

Moderators Stephanie Johnson and Josh Kornbluth will be there to emcee and present questions from the audience. Stephanie Johson is a Berkeley visual artist and Josh Kornbluth is a comedian.

Drawing on the musical traditions of their homelands in India, Africa, Europe and America, this stellar quartet weaves a global tapestry for the new millennium. ASPADA features Saxophonist-composer George Brooks; "Remeber Shakti" percussionist V. Selvaganesh; Egyptian born pianist, Osam Ezzeldin, a global music and jazz virtuoso; and German/Liberian bassist, Kai Eckhardt, celebrated for his work with John McLaughlin and Trilok Gurtu, and very special guest vocalist Mahesh Kale who is the 2016 recipient of India's National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
