One of the vanguards of the current gypsy jazz revival, Hot Club of San Francisco (HCSF) has integrated Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s jazz manouche style with their own disparate influences to create a unique sound of their own. HCSF is the brainchild of guitarist Paul Mehling, who after years of playing with the famed country swing bandleader Dan Hicks, went out on his own to form a gypsy jazz band.

Lydia Pense & Cold Blood debuted when the Fillmore was at its peak as one of the nation's musical Meccas. Owner Bill Graham was so impressed with Lydia's voice and the sound of the band that he immediately signed Cold Blood to his new record label. During the span of six original late-60's, early-70's albums, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood helped, along with Tower Of Power, forge their own specific brand of funk/soul and R&B which came to be known as East Bay Grease.

Kate Wolf's family is organizing a concert in memory of the late California folk singer/songwriter on her 75th birthday. The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley hosts the concert on Friday, January 27, 2017. The concert will benefit Camp Winnarainbow, Wavy Gravy's circus and performing arts camp for economically disadvantaged youth.
