Hot Rize is back! Garrison Keillor has called them "the Lamborghini of bluegrass." Steve Martin has called them "the great modern bluegrass band. They're the connective tissue that links the great founders of bluegrass with the modern tradition." And countless fans have called them the best bluegrass band in the business. Only they haven't been in the business for awhile, not together anyway. This is their first national tour since 1990, and they've just released a new album, When I'm Free, featuring several new originals, a few traditional classics, a song Mark Knopfler gave to the band, and a cover of a Los Lobos gem. They recorded the album the old-fashioned way, sitting in a circle.

This Hot Rize reunion brings together four musical masters, Tim O'Brien on mandolin and fiddle, Pete Wernick on banjo, Nick Foster on bass, and Bryan Sutton on guitar. All four have enjoyed prolific solo careers and contributed to amazing music by such artists as Gillian Welch and James Taylor, the Dixie Chicks and Nickel Creek, Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift. It's when their individual talents are blended together, though, that the magic really happens. Hot Rize is the name of the secret ingredient in Martha White's Self-Rising Flour, the longtime sponsor of a radio program featuring Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, and this band certainly has its own secret ingredient that takes the music higher and higher.

Oh, and don’t miss Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers, the badly dressed Hot Rize doppelgangers, who play sizzling hot honky tonk in outfits you won’t be able to forget. If you like bluegrass and honky tonk, get your tickets early – this show is going to be a blast!
