Among the Freight's most popular acts, Marley's Ghost achieves the seemingly impossible with its audacious blend of English folk roots, gospel, country, reggae, R&B, even Scottish bagpipe tunes—and it all works like a dream! Come celebrate with the band as they release their 10th CD, Jubilee, a wildly eclectic roots-music tour de force mixing originals and deft interpretations of tunes from the songbooks of Kris Kristofferson, Levon Helm, John Prine, and more.
A hotbed of multi-instrumental talent that has been playing together for 25 years, the group features Jon Wilcox's mandolin, guitar and bouzouki, Mike Phelan's guitars, dobro, fiddle, bass and lap steel, Dan Wheetman's guitar, fiddle, bass, banjo, and blues harp, Jerry Fletcher's percussion and keyboards, and Ed Littlefield's guitars, dobro, pedal steel guitar, and Highland bagpipes. They're all great singers, too!
As the LA Weekly aptly put it, “This West Coast [group] deftly, and frequently daffily, dashes across decades of American music to create a sound that’s steeped in tradition but never bogged down by traditionalism.” Come check them out.
