This repertoire class will explore tunes in the Aeolian Mode (DAC), also called mountain minor.

Students should have played mountain dulcimer for a year or taken both Mtn. Dulcimer 1 & 2 and be familiar with chords, chord-melody style, cross-string melodies and some flat-picking. We will play around with slides, hammers & pulls and get this tuning in our ears and under our fingers.

There will be an opportunity for performance at the end of our 6 weeks!

*Dulcimer capos will be required and available from the instructor for under $20.00.

Teacher, Deborah "DJ" Hamouris has played mountain dulcimer since 1979 and taught it for the past decade. She has a BA in Music and gets excited about teaching music both privately & in classes. DJ founded the East Bay Mountain Dulcimer Club in 2009: the current meeting schedule is on her website and Facebook fan page. She currently directs the women's singing group Women & Song and plays in a folk duo, The DulciMates, with husband Buffalo.
