Since the early 1990s, indie folk-rocker Melissa Ferrick has gathered a dedicated following with her emotionally honest first-person lyrics, dynamic sound, and impassioned live performances. In recent years she's been leaning a bit closer to the rock & roll vibe that always seemed to underpin her music, but her songs continue to be true to an intimate, nuanced vision, as on her recent CD, Goodbye Youth.

After studying flugelhorn at Boston's Berklee College of Music, Melissa turned a corner and set out on her own with an acoustic guitar, performing her original tunes in the coffeehouses of New York's East Village in the early 1990s. She got further attention over the years with a succession of acclaimed CDs like Massive Blur and Willing to Wait, and her nearly non-stop touring, gaining a sterling reputation for her lyrical music and dynamic live shows.
