Born in Mexico with a guitar propped against the cradle, Erika began exploring songwriting and music making during a unique childhood that zigzagged across the Venezuelan countryside, Brazilian rainforests, and South American metropolises. She always brings a breath of fresh air to the Freight stage as she wraps her smoky voice around tunes that pull listeners in with their intelligent, heartfelt lyrics and worldly rhythms. Making its home in a rich musical crossing somewhere between flamenco and folk, jazz and pop, Latin and soul, her music is an open invitation to step into a world where melody, lyric, and groove transcend all genres and categories. Lisa cultivated her remarkable voice from a childhood steeped in the beauty of nature. By the age of 13 she was the cantor for her church in Pittsburgh, PA. Her stunning range and vocal agility stretched into the pop music scene and then found its way to the dynamic world of jazz. A gifted songwriter who debuted some of her music at Heinz Hall with Marvin Hamlisch, Lisa has also performed and recorded with jazz legend Hendrick Merkins, Roger Humphries, and jazz pianist Julie Bonk. Additionally, she is a music director for many inspirational conferences throughout the United States, Australia, and Canada. Listen to a track from Lisa Ferraro and Erika Luckett:
