Using Carter Family songs as a jumping off place, we will work with simple three part harmony in this beautiful style. Finding simple harmony lines that sometimes weave around the melody, sometimes cross or create unisons, students will develop a better ability to hear the parts, as well as what gives the harmonies the old-time country sound, and power.

Allegra Yellin grew up singing harmonies with her family and has been leading song and harmony workshops for over 20 years. She has been in the Bay area since 2000 teaching private and group classes for guitar, banjo and voice. She leads the guitar section of the Old Time Stringband Music Class and she also teaches for East Bay Music Together, an early childhood music program for parents and children. Allegra can be seen and heard playing with the award winning Squirrelly Stringband (www.spectacularopticals.com), the Hadassah Gospel Hour (with Suzy Thompson and Evie Ladin), as well as many other local musicians.
