An enigmatic singer-songwriter, master guitarist, and a powerful, evocative singer, Richard Shindell keeps his listeners on their toes with his rapid shifts between the bitterly comic and the profoundly spiritual.

Now residing in Buenos Aires, the former New York seminary student began composing during the late 1980s, quickly earning a word-of-mouth cult following as a meticulous craftsman of vivid song portraits. While Richard has always been known as a fine narrative songwriter in his own right, his latest CD, South of Delia, features songs written by some of his own favorite artists. From Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" to Woody Guthrie's "Deportee" and Josh Ritter's "Lawrence, KS", classics both familiar and less well known are given a thorough redefinition through Richard's singular artistry.

Tonight's opener is the eloquent songstress Krista Detor.
