Sam RudinAn exciting, high-energy performer, Sam Rudin attacks and caresses the keyboard with great rhythmic intensity, romping through a broad range of 20th century American music. A compelling vocalist whose rough-hewn voice brims with drama and humor, he can evoke the spirit of Fats Waller, Oscar Peterson, Mose Alison, and Jerry Lee Lewis—sometimes all at the same time. Lee Hildebrand (East Bay Express) describes Sam as "A master of musical americana whose his scope is near limitless".

Sam, whom Freightgoers may remember by his longtime stage name Hurricane Sam, brings with him a band featuring some of California's most gifted musicians. Danny Caron (guitar), George Brooks (sax), Steve Evans (bass), and Jimmy Hobson (drums) all have extensive careers working with national and international names in blues, jazz, and world music, and all of them played on Sam's new CD, Once or Twice a Week.
