'Ukulele Arpeggios and Hawaiian Turn Arounds w/ Herb Ohta, Jr.

Monday, April 19, 6:00 - 7:30 pm
$30.00 ($50 for both workshops)

Have you always wondered how they do that? Herb Ohta, Jr will share the secrets behind arpeggios (picking patterns) and Hawaiian turnarounds! Ideal for those that are looking for a more traditional Hawaiian sound! Materials are included with the cost of the class.

*The workshop is geared towards all levels.

Herb Ohta's interest in music was evident at an early age: his grandmother taught him his first song on the 'ukulele ("Happy Birthday") at the age of three, and his father, 'ukulele legend Ohta-San, started his early instruction; he hasn't looked back since. One of Hawai'i's finest contemporary 'ukulele virtuosos, Herb has a graceful "nahenahe" style that's both reminiscent of his father, and recognizable as his very own. Herb teaches six days a week at Sonny D's 'Ukulele Shop in Waipahu, O'ahu, and Harry's Music Store in Kaimuki, O'ahu, while also finding time to compose new material, perform, and record extensively (he's a seven-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award Nominee and a two-time Hawai'i Music Award Winner). As a teacher, composer, recording artist, entertainer, and producer, it is Herb's goal to share the beauty of Hawai'i's music, its culture, and the 'ukulele with people all over the world.
