An exceedingly accomplished musician who plays violin, fiddle, mandolin, and composes and sings as well, Warren has been a fixture on the Austin roots scene for nearly a decade, carrying on the legacy of his late father, Champ Hood of Uncle Walt's Band fame. Warren has won plenty of awards over the years, from the Austin Youth Award at age 17 to the coveted Berklee School of Music String Achievement Award to being voted Best String Player in the 2005 Austin Chronicle Best Musician Awards. Playing a tasty mixture of classics and Warren's original, ageless tunes, the band dynamic turns on his seamless duets with powerhouse vocalist and keyboard player Emily Gimble, granddaughter of fiddle legend Johnny Gimble, of whom Hot Club of Cowtown's Elana James said: "She sounds a little bit like Norah Jones and Billie Holliday, but it's not as mannered or stuffy as other female singers I've heard in that style. What I like about Emily is that she is totally unaffected and the music just pours out of her, like it floats up out of her body." Listen to a track from Warren Hood: [audio]804[/audio]
